The Elm City Council is the name we've given to this musical project. I'm a big believer that any artist has to continually explore and try different things, so I'm gonna be careful not to make too many predictions...
That said, we play songs - mostly songs that I write, but also covers by some of our favorites - and those songs, for the most part, draw on the eternal, mysterious sources of American music: folk, country, blues and their bastard child, rock and roll. We're not quite a folk band and we're not quite a rock band, but we're somehow both of those things and...well...hopefully something unique in our own small way.
Anyway, I'm Matt Lenny (my real name is actually Matt Neuroth and I tweet about non-music/digital business stuff at @mattneuroth...crap stage name though...nobody can ever spell it or remember it...) and I'm the one doing most of the writing, the singing, and the guitar strumming. Like I said, these are my goals and my current ideas, but mainly I just hope we make music that people enjoy and that it might mean something to somebody other than ourselves. I've got lots of allies and musical comrades and I'll be naming them and showing them wherever possible, but I should mention at least 3 of them right now:
David Jamison is our drummer, harmony singer, vocal arranger, keyboard overdubber, and my general all-around right hand man. He helps me lead the Council and I'd be hell of a lot lonelier (and musically poorer) without him.
Sonny Ratcliff is also a guitarist and drummer (along with 20 other instruments) and he's been making me crazy and inspiring me to take chances for a good long time now. He also produced our current EP.
Matt Basile plays bass and looks cooler than all the rest of us onstage.
